UNC-Asheville's Lookout Observatory is officially open to members of the public! If you are interested in attending a public event, organizing a class trip, or possibly using the facilities for research, please visit their new lab page on UNCA's website:
Lookout is fully equiped with a Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector, a Takahashi refractor, a CCD camera, and live video feed from the warm room. One of the earliest pictures can be seen below. As they become more familiar with the site, UNCA's Observational Astronomy students have taken some amazing images of the Andromeda galaxy, the moon, satellites, and various other stellar objects.
